How to copy installation file of Office 2007 to install on another computer?
I have office 2007 installed on my laptop….i need to install it on another computer. I don’t have the disk. What installation file am i looking for to copy over to a disk to be able to install it on my other computer? There are so many installation files with msi. extension it looks like. I don’t even know if i’m looking in the right place. Please tell me how to get to it and how to copy it.

eric answers:
No,
you can’t copy the files over.
Because it’s called “installation”
the files have to be installed on the computer in the correct location. The DVD that the software came on has an installation file that places the software into the correct location.
You will need a set of disk and an activation code
(you can not re-use the one from the laptop, as it code is only good for one install)
to be able to install Office on the second computer.

Nancy asks…
Can I download an installation driver as a replacement for the installation CD for my digital camera?
I just got a Sanyo VPC T1496 Digital Camera but I have a mini notebook (no disc slot) so I would need to download the installation information in order to use the camera..Right? Where can I go to download this?

eric answers:
Be careful when downloading off the net, as a quick search for me just then showed one or two dodgy websites with ‘driver downloads’. If it is just usb, give it a go and see if it installs itself.
I can’t imagine that it would need a driver specifically to work – you may be missing some software however.

David asks…
USB drive and transferring installation files will it work?
So say i transferred windows vista installation files onto my laptop and then ran them would the installation go through or would it bork my computer because it is not on disk? The disk drive is not working so i am trying to find out how to fix this little conundrum without paying tons of money to fix the disk drive.

eric answers:
If you can boot from a USB drive (Look in the Bios for that option), and have a BOOTABLE Vista image, yes. But from your description, I don’t think you have a bootable image.

Sharon asks…
What did you pay for your Security System equipment and Installation and what is your monitoring fee?
I just had a door to door salesman make a very appealing offer for a free security system and installation, for $39 a month, including tax.
I’m just wondering if this is a reasonable fee or not and if the system/installation are typically free.
Thanks in advance.

eric answers:
I would check out the company first. Some of them have had some bad problems with contract issues. It may seem cheaper up front to go this route, but it generally isn’t cheaper in the long run.
You do have a different option, which is much less expensive. You could “do it yourself.” Just purchase the system thats right for you, install it and purchase monitoring. Much, much cheaper.

Sandra asks…
Where do I go to download a installation cd for my camera?
I lost the installation cd for my video camera. I shot a video for school and it won’t let me upload it to the computer without it. Is there any other way to do this? If not how can I get another cd?

eric answers:
We need the manufacturer and model number.
Chances are VERY high that you won’t need it, but we need to know what camcorder you are using to help you with the steps for transferring the video.
And because of the rules around here, you need to post a NEW question… With the camcorder manufacturer and camcorder model number information.
